Last year i made a big change in the way i eat. I decided to become a vegetarian. I stopped eating meat completely, feasting on anything else but. So any idea of comfort foods for me are long gone since my whole family are meat lovers. With that, i'm going to write this blog in the perspective of a year ago, before i was vegetarian. When i ate meat, and actually liked it, my mom would cook the most delicious dinners that would make your mouth water just thinking about it. From chicken to steak to pasta to salads, she made the best food i could ever imagine. My particular favorite was her chicken cutlets covered in mozzarella cheese, much like chicken parm. She would make it whenever i wanted, whenever i craved. It's the closest i have to a comfort food in my past, it gives me that homey feeling you can't get anywhere else.
Nowadays, that i'm vegetarian, my variety of foods have been lessened. Since i eat mostly vegetables, the first thing that pops into my head when i think "comfort food" would be my nana's mashed potatoes. Whenever i eat at her house, which is often, she makes mashed potatoes with every meal. For as long as i can remember nana's potatoes have been her specialty that she brings to the table. No one else on earth can make them the way she does. She gets them just right. Some of my best memories are are at my nana's dinner table with all my family, and the mashed potatoes. For Thanksgiving, she makes a whole pot of mashed potatoes, which is gone in the matter of seconds after being on the table. Everyone always commments on how good they are which puts a smile on her face. I think food, in a way, brings everyone together. I have such a big family and we really only see each other on holidays around the dinner table. Everyones always happy when they're eating good food. Which i think is why food gives us a comforting feeling. It fills us up with joy :)

348 words....i try
I believe all jobs are important, they keep the world functioning. Of course jobs like doctors and teachers are more important than a garbage man or cashier but every job has its own importance to the world. Who would pick up our garbage and bring it to the dump? Or ring up our groceries? I worked as a busser for a busy restaurant for a year so i can relate to this topic. Before i got the job i was a little embarrassed because i always thought, as ignorant as this sounds, that Mexicans bus tables but after running heavy trays through a maze of tables and chairs i had much more repect for the job, i think people who have higher paying jobs have a big ego. The restaurant i work at is a perfect example for how every little job has its importance to the world. Each job at my restaurant keeps the restaurant functioning, just like society. From the manager down to the dishwashers. The restaurant wouldn't be what it is without each and every job, much like society. The hostess seats the guests, the chef prepares their food, the servers take orders and bring drinks, food runners bring the food, bussers clean the tables, dishwashers wash the dishes, and the manager controls it all. All of which relate to society. No matter how big or small a jobs importance is, every job still effects the world we live in.
Doctors are much more important than dishwahers of course, but i also think a big factor in the jobs importance is how good they are. If they are crappy doctors i don't consider them important if they aren't helping anyone, just like teachers. If teachers don't have that passion to teach and don't even like the kids how are they going to be good at educating them?
Theres many pointless jobs like people who create video games and tobacco executives but it pumps money into our economy. Like i said every job, good or bad, has it's impact on society and how the world runs.

Wild?
I'M COMMENTING IN RED
wild - adjective, -er, -est, adverb, noun
–adjective 1. | living in a state of nature; not tamed or domesticated: a wild animal; wild geese. This is the first thing i thought of when i think of the word wild. Wild animals. "Untamed" is the perfect word to describe a wild animal, or human. Humans who don't have respect for themselves or anyone around them, i consider, are wild. When they just do whatever they want and still don't have control over their lives, are wild. "A man without ethics is a wild beast loosed upon this world" - Albert Camus. |
2. | growing or produced without cultivation or the care of humans, as plants, flowers, fruit, or honey: wild cherries. Wild plants are very cool. They have their own uniqueness about them. It's so weird how they grow without our care. |
3. | uncultivated, uninhabited, or waste: wild country. This one is a little hard to write about since i don't know off the top of my head the countries that are uninhabited or a waste. The only example i can give is an island thath hasn't been touched. Which reminds me of The Lord of the Flies, the island they got stranded on was uninhabited. But it was not a waste so I'm all confused about this one. Moving on. |
4. | uncivilized or barbarous: wild tribes. I don't have an example of a wild tribe, but i can picture them in my head. A bunch of savages who don't really function as a whole. They don't have rules or structure, or organization. They end up killing each other, the tribe doesn't last very long. This is just what i think it is. |
5. | of unrestrained violence, fury, intensity, etc.; violent; furious: wild strife; wild storms. Perfect example would be Katrina. We didn't know exactly how bad it was going to be until it wiped out New Orleans. We had no control over this storm. Protection wasn't thought out many people died and lots of homes got destroyed. It's "fury" and "intensity" ruined many peoples lives. |
6. | characterized by or indicating violent feelings or excitement, as actions or a person's appearance: wild cries; a wild look. This makes me think of the saying, "a wild look in their eye", it's only used when someone is being described as mad or excited. They're feelings are uncontrolled and corrupt. |
7. | frantic or distracted; crazy: to drive someone wild. "You drive me crazy", When someone annoys another they get flustered or "crazy". |
8. | violently or uncontrollably affected: wild with rage; wild with pain. Or wildly in love or wildly depressed. There's so many things you can be wild for. Things that you feel so passionately for, that you can't control. Things like love, hate, jealousy, regret, sadness etc. |
9. | undisciplined, unruly, or lawless: a gang of wild boys. Greasers. My Grandpa was a greaser. He told me stories of when he was young, he used to race cars illegally on the streets, breaking the law. Much like the greasers in the movie Grease. They are a unruly and undisciplined gang of boys. |
10. | unrestrained, untrammeled, or unbridled: wild enthusiasm. Hmmmmm, don't know. A person has much/a lot of enthusiasm? |
11. | disregardful of moral restraints as to pleasurable indulgence: He repented his wild youth. Don't like this one. |
12. | unrestrained by reason or prudence: wild schemes. If you've ever seen the movie Catch Me If You Can it's a perfect example for this one. Leonardo DiCaprio's character, a con man, makes fake checks and gets rich off it. He fools everyone until the government catches onto his scheme, and he gets into a lot of trouble |
13. | amazing or incredible: Isn't that wild about Bill getting booted out of the club? A good story to tell your friends. |
14. | disorderly or disheveled: wild hair. Oh i have my wild hair days so i completely understand this one. The 80's also had some pretty wild hair. |
15. | wide of the mark: He scored on a wild throw. Sports. No thank you. |
16. | Informal. intensely eager or enthusiastic: wild to get started; wild about the new styles. Anxious, impatient, antsy. I remember waiting to get my license this was exactly how i felt. |
17. | Cards. (of a card) having its value decided by the wishes of the players. In the card game, Uno, there's a card that's called the "wild" card. You can use it for any purpose. Basically making up your own rule. |
18. | Metallurgy. (of molten metal) generating large amounts of gas during cooling, so as to cause violent bubbling. What? |
–adverb
19. | in a wild manner; wildly. People do many things in a wild manner, like driving wildly, talking wildy excessive, being wildly emotional. When your doing something in a wildly manner, it's in extremes. |
–noun
20. | Often, wilds. an uncultivated, uninhabited, or desolate region or tract; waste; wilderness; desert: a cabin in the wild; a safari to the wilds of Africa. |

How can some people be so miserable? Will they ever realize how unhappy they are? Why is it 11:30 and im not sleeping? Why can't i ever sleep? Why don't i go to sleep earlier so i don't have to be exhausted when i wake up? Why do we have school so early? Who made that rule? When i find out who it is, can i kick him? Why do teachers teach, when they dont even like it? Why didn't i apply myself more? Why didnt i know then, what i know now? Why can't we reverse time? Why do we have regrets? Why dont people use their brains? Why can't life be like the 40s-50s? Why was everything so simple? Why do we change for the worse? Will our country go down in the tubes? Is there room for me in Europe? Will i ever backpack Europe like i've always wanted? Am i at 500 words yet? Why do i have so many more questions to ask? Why can't the sky alway be blue? Why can't the sun always be shining? Why don't i live in Florida? Will the world really end in 2012? Why am i asking that question? Do you believe in philosophies? Are you going to answer some of these questions? Why do i have to get up out of m warm comfy bed to put my clothes in the dryer? Why do i have to go to school tomorrow? Why can't i fly to the Bahamas and live on the beach the rest of my life? Why haven't i even been to the Bahamas? Why haven't i been on vacation in forever? Where'd all the good people go? Did you kow i just quoted Jack Johnson? Why is his music so good? Why do people have to be deaf? Why do they have to be blind? Why do we have dissabilities? Is it possible to have a perfect world? Will we ever have one? Why not now?

The best person i could think of to elect to office would be my father. He has all the qualities, i believe, that makes someone a great leader. He's smart, brave, very trusting, and a good people person. I could picture him as president because he's always talking about being it, he says it's one of his dreams, so who else better than him to write about? A major change he would make would be to help the economy get back on it's feet. I can't get all technical on which specific changes he would make, but i do know that would be the first problem he would focus on.
When the Obama/McCain election was going on i heard my dad talking about why he wanted McCain as president, he said it was because McCain was for the rich and since my dad owns a construction company he would want someone who would do something that would help the success of his business. In the past couple of years since the decline of the economy his business is not doing so well. So my dad would make changes for his business that he's most passionate about, and not only just his business but the societies businesses. Another change i could see him making would be to make college affordable since he's been sweating lately about the cost for sending me to college. My dad reminds me so much of Obama, he's just like him - confident, calm, smart. They would be good partners in running the country.

yay 500 plus words, a record
What i notice first when i see people driving is what they're doing. It's a fast glimpse but it says a lot about their personalities, there are those who drive aggressively, people who are calm, people who don't really pay attention, those who are overly cautious, there's endless examples of different types of drivers just like there's a bunch of different personalities. Everyone drives differently, and everyone has different personalities. I think it reflects who we are because we are the ones pressing the gas and turning the wheel, making all the decisions in what to do, and what not to do. We decide the rights and wrongs. People who drive aggressively are most likely in a hurry or just love the thrill of going fast. I would say i'm an example of an aggressive driver, i think mainly because i'm very impatient so when i'm driving i want to get from point a to point b, so i speed around a little bit. Although i can't really tell if i have an aggressive personality, my impatient-ness makes me drive agressively. An example of a calm driver is my dad, he moves slow, waits for cars to go by before he makes a move, doesn't flip the bird when someone cuts him off, and thats his personality all the way. He makes decisions slowly, thinking them out. He doesn't ever get fired up when someone angers him. He's just a peaceful person, and thats how his driving is also. I do also think personalities change when your beind the wheel for some, I can't remember which movie but theres this guy whos overweight and has no self confidence. There's this one scene where he's driving an incredibly nice/expensive car and he pulled up to a group of good looking girls and acted all hot stuff when they looked at him. I think if he wasn't sitting in that car and was a regular guy on the street he wouldn't of been so confident in front of them. So yes people feel more confident, powerful, or even relaxed when they're driving than in everyday life.
I have never been in a serious accident and hope never to be. I've only been in a couple fender benders. Although one time, when i just got my liscense a friend and I went over to seaside one night to hang out with some friends. I let my friend drive on our way home. It was raining out and my car is terrible in the rain. As we were going over the bridge to go back into Toms River we hit a bump and my car started to fish tail. She tried to control it but we ended up spinning out and hitting the side of the bridge. It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me so far. Luckily we were fine and so was my car. Thats really the only exciting story i have to tell about me being in an accident.
To finish this off, the kind of driver i want to be is someone like my dad, he's calm and doesn't let anyone make him mad while he's driving, which in return makes me calm when i'm in the car with him. It is more enjoyable that way. He also has never been in a serious accident so that makes him even more a driving role model to me.

My relationship with my phone? not a very good one since its broken. But when it's actually working i'm not really on it too much to talk, i'm not the talking on the phone type i'd rather have a conversation in person. I use my phone for others things besides talking, such as an alarm clock, a phone book, a calculator, a camera. So if they're were no phones for six months i wouldn't be happy. I never really thought on how much i depend on my phone until now. If it were a few years ago when i was younger i wouldn't mind, but now i rely on it alot. I guess since i've had one for quite some time now i'm not ready to live without it. Maybe if i had a weeks notice. Just kidding but really, i'm too dependent on my phone and i think alot of people are. Like my dad, he takes care of his own business so he's constantly on the phone talking to people. He deffinately could not live without his phone. He actually mentioned to me the other day on how he didn't know how he ran his business without a cell phone way back when. Technology with cell phones has grown into somthing so big that it's necessary to have a phone now. Even my 60 year old grandmother has a phone that she carries with her all the time. The whole world depends on phones these days if the network ever collapsed we wouldn't know what to do because we depend on it too much to ever be seperated.

People arguing is part of everyday life. It happens everyday in different ways. Just because people argue does not mean they're enemies. People argue for many different reasons to get their point across when they are not heard. For example: when a husband and wife get into an argument, are they enemies? No they just don't agree on something but then they make up and all is fine. I remember in elementary school, my best friend and i would get into arguments all the time we would be mad at each other, then become friends again again, and again. We're the best of friends now who never argue. Arguing is just part of human nature. When people don't agree on something, they argue. I think people who have different views on such things as politics and religion are not enemies, when they argue they just disagree with the others mindset and they argue because they think they are right. Now i'm just talking in everyday life. There are much more serious cases of arguments who are enemies such as countries, political leaders, populations, etc. Who argue much differently.
It is more serious than arguing about bills or the last swing on the swing set. I would say people arguing about more important topics could be enemies in a way. The definiton for enemy is, a person who feels hatred for, fosters harmful designs against, or engages in antagonistic activities against another; an adversary or opponent. Which reminds me of the Israelis and the Palestinians, they're arguing over what they think is rightfully theirs which has been dating back to the early 1900s and still they are yet to be neutral. I would consider them enemies.
